7 tips to stay on your workout program from the Atlanta Personal trainer

More than 75 percent of first-time exercisers drop out after the first six weeks of Fitness training.
Unfortunately, exercise doesn't simply happen-you have to put yourself into it. And if your boss
or your boyfriend hold more sway over your time than your own needs, try to readjust the
balance. Here are 10 tips to help make a fitness lifestyle stick.
1. Do it for you. Why do you want to get fit? Whether you're safeguarding your health, reducing
stress or shedding a few pounds, your reason for exercising should stem from your desires, not
someone else's. Making exercise a part of your life isn't a matter of willpower, but of doing
something that's important to you.
2. Keep your fitness goals in sight. Don't expect overnight success. Write down moderately
challenging goals that will give you the chance to revel in your accomplishments. A short-term
goal might consist of walking for 20 minutes three times a week, or making it all the way through
a low-impact class. A six-month goal might be losing a specific amount of weight or competing
in a 5K, say The Atlanta Peachtree Road Race which is Just under 2 months away on July 4th. As you achieve each goal, set new ones.
3. Make exercise a given part of your dailey Routine. Don't let excuses sideline your efforts. Schedule your workouts
on your calendar as if they're important meetings. Make them at the same
times and on the same days every week so that they become part of your routine.
4. Give yourself credit. When you reach a goal, treat yourself to a shopping spree, a night
at the movies, or some new exercise wear. You deserve a reward.
5. Don't punish yourself. If you miss a workout or a whole week of workouts, simply refocus
and make fitness a priority again. A good way to get back into it is to just do something for 10 minutes.
6. Consider a certified personal trainer. Even if it's for a short time to build you a program, a qualified fitness, maybe join a Boot camp fitness class, they are starting up all the time, We do one with fitness with Jeff or come out to one of my Cardio tennis classes
professional can help develop a regimen specific to your needs.
7. Climb out of those ruts. Work out at different times, check out a new class or piece of equipment, cross-train, take a hike, try a new sport, take advantage of the club's saunaor whirlpool.

Over use injuries related to personal training, working out, and running

My Client Kim was having problems with elbow, shin and Back issues related to both our Tennis instrucion and personal training that she has been doing with me and her League tennis, She has gone to many different physcal therapist for Rehab in the past and she swears by these guys at Atlanta Body Mechanics, 550 Peachtree Street, Suite 1760 Atlanta, Georgia 30308 404.817.0734, her problems were involved with Balance which is commonly overlooked within fitness programs and in both the athletic and general population. The majority of the clients of Body Mechanics and http//www.bodymechanicsatl.com spend their dedicated workout time on cardiovascular and resistance training programs, but balance training plays an integral role in athletic performance and in fall prevention for older adults. A recent article in the NY Times describes the benefits of exercise and how physical therapists can further enhance this training within any population. Please contact our physical therapists at Body Mechanics Physical Therapy to learn how we can best address your specific rehabilitation and fitness needs.
Kim issues were also exasberated by,
Overuse Injuries
The following questions and statements may indicate the potential for or presence of an overuse injury (ie tendinitis, bursitis, IT band syndrome) or activity related injury.

4. Inability or decrease in a sport type movement to one side vs. another? For example, a player can defend Left, not Right; longer stride on one side; stronger pedal stroke on one side; or decrease in vertical jump from side to side?
5. Point tenderness over the muscle belly, tendon, ligaments, or bone? Note: Point tenderness over a bone with inability to bear weight must be followed up with a physician to rule out fracture.
6. Swelling or heat within a joint not resolved 1-2 hours after exercise or when compared to the other working joints of the body.
7. Pain in the leg or arm that increases or decreases in severity with exercise?

Ready To Work For That Better Body? Unveil Your True Self Today.
Understanding-WeightLoss.com
With almost 40% of Americans overweight, it's clear that many of us are not following the latest fitness guidelines that prescribe an hour of exercise a day. In fact, there was no doubt a collective groan when people realized they would now have to find an hour each day to do something they can't seem to find 5 minutes for. How important are these guidelines and what can you do to make them fit into your life?
The Simple Facts About Cardio

Before we talk about how much cardio you should do, you should at least know why it's so important. Cardiovascular exercise simply means that you're involved in an activity that raises your heart rate to a level where you're working, but can still talk (aka, in your Target Heart Rate Zone). Here's why cardio is so important:

It's one way to burn calories and help you lose weight
It makes your heart strong so that it doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood
It increases your lung capacity
It helps reduce risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes
It makes you feel good
It helps you sleep better
It helps reduce stress
I could go on all day, but you get the point
Bottom line: you need cardio if you want to get your weight under control and get your stress to a tolerable level.
