Tips from the atlanta personal trainer about staying on your exercise program

Hello Atlanta Fitness group, going over my fitness and exercise articles I found this one I thought you guys might like, I just took excerpt How can I avoid falling off my exercise routine?

Hello Atlanta Personal Training group and friends, I found a great article in Webmd, the link is at the bottom of the page. So many of my personal training clients ask me how do I keep up my fitness and exercise rountine, here are some great thoughts on the subject, now have a great work out. www.fitnesswithjeff.com, Atlanta

How can I avoid falling off my exercise routine? Answer:
Sticking with your exercise program regularly and consistently is your best bet for overall health. While there's no specific danger in starting and stopping over and over again, it's important to set personal goals and identify what motivates you to exercise. Even if there's been a long lapse in your sessions, you should do your best to get back to regular exercise as soon as you can.

For some, it's disease prevention. If a close family member has been affected by heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, or cancer, that may be what motivates you to stay healthy and avoid the same path. Regular exercise reduces your risk of developing these and other diseases and will help you maintain a healthy body weight.

For others, living longer could be a motivator. Research has shown that exercise may extend the years of your life. It can greatly enhance your quality of living, too, by making regular day-to-day physical activities such as climbing stairs, carrying groceries, and vacuuming easier.

How you start an exercise program may greatly determine whether you stick with it. If you have started programs in the past only to quit a month later, pay careful attention to the following tips:

Set realistic goals. Don't try to run a marathon or lose 10 pounds in a month.
Begin slowly and try a number of different exercises. Limit the length of each session.
Use visualization daily: Picture yourself enjoying your workout and then feeling great when you've finished.
Schedule exercise and make it a top priority in your life. Write it down on your calendar and keep a daily exercise log.
Identify one exercise that you enjoy doing on most days. If you're traveling, Find a fitness center at the hotel, go for a swim, or take a long walk.

Buying an exercise tape that you find entertaining.
Scheduling several sessions with a personal trainer.
Joining an exercise class that has a lively instructor.
Overall, it's important to not get discouraged if you miss a week or two of exercise. It's never too late to get started again. When your program gets derailed, try to figure out what went wrong and learn from your mistakes. Best of luck and keep exercising!

Ten Tips for Smart Stretching, why stretch and stategys's

Hello Atlanta Personal Training Group,a client of mine who Told me about Dr. Craig Senft, a Atlanta Chiropractor located on North Druid hills Atl 30329, While going out to Dr Craigs site I found this article that I thought you guys might like, Ten Tips for Smart Stretching, I put the top Four in this blog, if you would like to check out the rest of the article and other topics please checkout:

 Stretch Before or After Exercise?
There's been a lot of discussion lately about the best time to stretch. Ultimately, there's no right or wrong here. What works for you works for you.

The main point is to be sure to stretch.

Recent exercise physiology studies do show that static stretching (slow, easy stretching) actually reduces muscular power and strength in the short-term. So, for competitive, high-level athletes, static stretching is best done AFTER exercise.

For people in their thirties and beyond, many of whom have had back issues at some time, it may still be a very good idea to do static stretching before exercise. The primary value here is to prepare the muscles, ligaments, and joints of the lower back for work. Static stretching of the big muscles of the legs - the hamstrings, calves, and quads - reflexively loosens and elongates lower back muscles and supporting structures.

So, for many of us, doing our regular stretching routine first, followed by five or ten minutes of a dynamic warm-up, is still the best preparation for a safe, enjoyable, fulfilling workout.
1. Why stretch? Stretching lengthens muscles and improves flexibility.1,2 Also, stretching the big leg muscles - the hamstrings, calves, and quads - simultaneously loosens and lengthens the muscles of your lower back. So, when you stretch, you're helping your back!

2. When to stretch? Recent exercise physiology studies show that static stretching is best done after exercise.3 Pre-exercise "dynamic warm-ups", such as torso twists, arm circles, and light jogging, prepare the body for work. Importantly, for those of us with back issues, it's still a good idea to do the familiar static stretches even before the dynamic warm-up!

3. Don't rush! Stretching is as important as what you're going to do after you stretch. And, if you rush, you might pull a muscle or worse. Be sure to include 10 to 15 minutes of stretching as part of your exercise time.

4. Stretch gently and slowly. You're not trying to accomplish anything while stretching. In other words, you're not trying to stretch "this much" or "this far". Nice and easy does it. Stretching is a Zen activity.

5 Tips to Lose Belly Fat

Ready To Work For That Better Body? Unveil Your True Self Today.
Understanding-WeightLoss.com
With almost 40% of Americans overweight, it's clear that many of us are not following the latest fitness guidelines that prescribe an hour of exercise a day. In fact, there was no doubt a collective groan when people realized they would now have to find an hour each day to do something they can't seem to find 5 minutes for. How important are these guidelines and what can you do to make them fit into your life?
The Simple Facts About Cardio

Before we talk about how much cardio you should do, you should at least know why it's so important. Cardiovascular exercise simply means that you're involved in an activity that raises your heart rate to a level where you're working, but can still talk (aka, in your Target Heart Rate Zone). Here's why cardio is so important:

It's one way to burn calories and help you lose weight
It makes your heart strong so that it doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood
It increases your lung capacity
It helps reduce risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes
It makes you feel good
It helps you sleep better
It helps reduce stress
I could go on all day, but you get the point
Bottom line: you need cardio if you want to get your weight under control and get your stress to a tolerable level.
