Walking Won't Do It: Move Faster
I found this great BBC reports that the research looked at 128 people, and compared the oxygen uptake of those who walked at their own pace with the oxygen uptake of those whose routines left them enough breath to be able to speak one or two sentences with ease at the end. They found that the first group increased peak oxygen uptake by an average of 4 percent over the six months - but the figure for the moderate intensity exercise group was 10 percent.
